Dear Mapistas, Friends, and Collegues: |
|
Happy Election Season! It has been a busy year for all of us. When Antonio Villaraigosa was elected Mayor of Los Angeles, Latinos nationwide experienced a new pride and inspiration to mobilize and become more active. We need you to join us now, more than ever, and work with us.
Our Annual Convention was held July 16th in Tulare, California and hosted over 600 attendees.from throughout California. We made state endorsements and approved a San Francisco Sister City Relationship Resolution. SF MAPA has partnered with The Greenlining Coalition,Hermandad Mexicana, The San Francisco Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and The Mexican Museum. It is smart politics to work jointly toward common goals in a coordinated effort. A Welcome is also in order for Hermandad Mexicana organization that will open a Northern California office to offer services to Latinos. SF MAPA will also benefit by sharing their resources for a SF office, which I will certainly appreciate in my new role of Associate State President, San Francisco Bay Region. Look forward to hearing about our official office warming scheduled for later this year. We look forward to working with you. When we work together to bring about the changes we need, we all benefit. By paying your dues now, your membership is valid for the remainder of 2005 and the full year of 2006. You will also be eligible to vote at our endorsement meeting at Centro Latino, 1656-15th Street at 6:00 PM on August 31, 2005. You must be a paid member to vote.
And finally, MORE BIG NEWS: The Annual MAPA 2006 State/National Convention will be held in San Francisco in September 2006!! Sincerely,
Paula Fiscal President SF MAPA Associate State President Elect
